How we handle the data of people who write to us, and what happens when you visit this site.
Last updated: August 2026.
Who handles the data
The data controller is B&B Cascina Barolo, VAT number 11620160017, registered at Strada Comunale di Altessano 158-B interno 7A, 10151 Turin, Italy. For anything concerning your data you can write to info@cascinabarolo.com or call +39 328 0544819.
What data we collect, and why
Only what you give us. If you fill in the enquiry form: your name, email address, telephone number if you provide one, the dates of your stay and whatever you write in the message. If you write to us on WhatsApp or by email: your number or address and the content of the message. We use it to reply to you, to tell you whether we are free and to keep the conversation together up to the booking: the legal basis is the taking of steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, and then the accommodation contract itself.
If the stay goes ahead, we collect the data required by law: the identity document details of everyone staying overnight, and the details needed for the invoice or receipt. Here the legal basis is a legal obligation, not consent: without this data we cannot accommodate you.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not pass it to anyone for commercial purposes. We do not carry out profiling and we do not take automated decisions.
Who it is disclosed to
To nobody, except where the law requires it or where a supplier is needed to make the service work:
- to the Alloggiati Web portal of the Italian State Police, within twenty-four hours of arrival, as required by article 109 of the consolidated public security act;
- to Regione Piemonte and ISTAT, statistical data on overnight stays only, through the regional tourism platform;
- to the City of Turin, for the tourist tax;
- to our accountant and to the Italian Revenue Agency, for tax purposes;
- to the provider that hosts this site and to the service that forwards the contact form to our mailbox, which act as data processors and do not use the data on their own account.
If you write to us on WhatsApp, the conversation passes through Meta's servers under that service's own terms, over which we have no say: if you would rather avoid that, use email or the telephone.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into bookings are kept for as long as it takes to reply and for the months that follow, in case you write again and pick up the thread; then we delete them. Booking data and accounting records are kept for the ten years the law requires. Data sent to Alloggiati Web follows the periods set by public security legislation.
Cookies and measurement tools
This site uses no cookies: neither technical nor profiling ones. There is no Google Analytics, there are no advertising pixels, there are no social buttons following you around. Even the typefaces are hosted on the site itself rather than on outside servers, so opening a page does not disclose your IP address to third parties. That is why you will not find a cookie consent box: there is no need for one.
On the «Finding us» page there are two buttons that open Google Maps. They are ordinary links: until you click them, Google receives nothing.
Where the data is held
The servers hosting the site and the form service are in the European Union or in countries offering adequate safeguards under articles 45 and 46 of the GDPR. Our mailboxes and booking records are in Italy.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict its use, give it to you in a readable format, or object to our processing it. Just write to info@cascinabarolo.com: we reply within one month. Some data we cannot delete on request while the law obliges us to keep it, tax records for example, and in that case we will tell you so.
If you believe something is wrong, you can contact the Italian Data Protection Authority, piazza Venezia 11, 00187 Rome, garanteprivacy.it.
